Pre-production & planning
After the initial consultation, this is where we plan all of the creative details of your video in advance of the shoot. It’s a collaborative process where we use our expertise to make your vision come to life.
We are full-service filmmakers so we support you at every step of the way. You’ll have an allocated member of the Fresh Ground Films to liaise with during the planning process.
This stage can typically include:
- Storyboarding, scripting and research
- Project management and meetings scheduling
- Shoot preparation and planning
- Location scouting and recces
- Talent casting /liaison with contributors
- Test filming
- Production schedule
The purpose of pre-production and planning is to ensure that the shoot runs as smoothly as possible and we can focus on getting the best possible footage for your film.
Video Production
Production is the filming itself, aka the exciting bit! We love this phase and we love the enjoyments our clients get from it. The size of the shoot will depend entirely on your project – we can provide a full video production team or a discreet one-man crew.
We’re skilled at working with minimal disruption and can blend into the background at events and in work and research spaces. Your video will benefit from our suite of professional film production kit, including cinema class cameras, LED location lighting, and discreet sound-kit. We capture your footage in crisp 4k.
This stage may include some or all of the following:
- Filming including any drone filming, interviews, b-roll and voiceover recording
- Studio setups
- GDPR, consent and permissions
- Crew time (including travel, set up and pack down times)
- Equipment, location or studio hire
- Agreements and licences
- Actors’ fees
- Hair & make-up
- Costumes and props
We take a flexible, relaxed approach on shoots. We’ll arrive with a schedule and a clear plan but we know from experience that sometimes the unexpected happens! We like to go with the flow and be ready to capture those moments of magic that weren’t anticipated. Our goal is always to put everyone at ease – clients, interviewees, children and animals!
Post-Production & Editing
This is where we retreat to our eco-studio and make the magic happen. Using industry leading software, we edit the best footage together for a cinematic feel that brings your story to life.
You have approval at every stage and you can comment directly on draft footage via our online platform. We’ll stay in close contact with you during the edit unless you prefer a hands-off approach.
The editing stage can include:

- Licenses for music and stock footage
